Mercurial nature of watercolor - one of its best features!


This is one of my most recent works. It represents one of my favorite aspects of watercolor, the fact that dried color looks different from it's wet version.
This unpredictability when used well produces an effect which can give better depth to the subject over a single tone flat value, as can be seen in this painting.
I used burnt seinna and prussian blue to make this gray color. I mixed a portion well and used it to paint this

For the other flowers, I just used the two colors together without mixing them well.


In my opinion, this effect of colors mixing on the paper is the highlight of this painting over the subject.
