I’ve always wanted to use ink and watercolor
together as they both have the potential to produce good effects. The ink pen
can be used to highlight the subject in a loose painting or a detailed painting,
while watercolor can be used for bringing other aspects of the composition
together.
While doing my graduate studies in
Minneapolis, Minnesota I visited the Mill City Museum. Once upon a time, it served as the main source of income to Minneapolis. It was damaged due to fire, but the management made efforts to preserve whatever was left of it. I
really liked its structure on the first glance and wanted to capture it in a
painting.
Wanting to do justice to it’s architecture,
I used ink pen and watercolors together to bring out it’s texture and beauty.
Since the building was primarily made of glass, I had to carefully balance the reflection created on it by the exterior architecture and the interior lighting.
What do you think?
If you like this post please do share! Thank you!
There is plenty of light in it and reflections of glass are captured well.
